Take Your Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner to the Next Level

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… Oh wait, wrong month…

At Soom Foods, we all love Thanksgiving, and all have our own traditions associated with this holiday. With that, we have varying recipes for some of our favorites like gravy atop a moist roasted turkey and perhaps cornbread stuffing. Or mashed (sweet) potatoes plated next to glazed carrots. And of course we can’t forget pumpkin and/or pecan pie amongst all of the other delicious Thanksgiving dinner accompaniments!

As many of you know, tahini is an incredible ingredient (and a fine Thanksgiving component, if you ask us) that really ties vegetables, starches, and proteins together. It can really elevate a dish by giving it that extra “umph” in terms of deliciousness and nutrition. Talk about a superfood!

This year, we want you to join us in taking your traditional Thanksgiving dinner to the next level with some of the following recipes:

Winter Squash Soup with Tahini and Za’atar Croutons

Butternut Squash soup. Classic. Consider using a different winter squash this season that is still reminiscent of that particular vegetable. This Red Kuri Squash Soup with Tahini and Za’atar Chickpea Croutons may just blow your butternut squash soup out of the park. It’s worth a try, right? And those Chickpea Croutons.. we can eat them by the boatload. Yes, they’re that good.

Tahini Whipped Sweet Potatoes

Have you ever considered adding tahini to your mashed sweet potatoes? Ditch the butter, oil, mayonnaise, and marshmallows (sorry kids), and add tahini! It adds a nuttiness that pairs so beautifully with the cinnamon flavor of these Tahini Whipped Sweet Potatoes by blogger Eat The Gains.

Honey and Tahini Glazed Potatoes

Don’t feel like making mashed potatoes this year? Psht – we won’t tell anyone. Make these Honey and Tahini Glazed Potatoes instead. It speaks wonders, and is a flavorful and innovative dish to wow your guests this Thanksgiving!

Roasted Carrots with Sweet Tahini Drizzle

Another fantastic combination that you may not have thought of is carrots and tahini. They are so complimentary, it’s “awesoom.” With that, we highly recommend these Roasted Carrots with Sweet Tahini Drizzle! And, if you were curious, they’re paleo, too.

Tahini Carrot Cake

Going off that carrot vibe above, let’s discuss carrot cake. It’s rich, nutty, and a perfect dessert to serve to friends and family, especially at this particular holiday. This Tahini Carrot Cake is all the above, with an extra depth of flavor, thanks to tahini. 10/10 recommend.

Tahini Apple Crumble

If you’re going for a healthier dessert recipe this year, we suggest making our Tahini Apple Crumble. It’s sure to bring the comfort factor to your Thanksgiving meal. A less healthy option (but a very delicious one) is to top this warm dish with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You’re welcome.
