We are Hiring: Director of Logistics

Soom Foods is the trusted brand of tahini and tahini products for celebrated chefs and home cooks (www.soomfoods.com). Our mission is to deliver delicious, nutritious and versatile food products that our customers love and want to share with others. Our Company currently sells three products: tahini, chocolate sweet tahini and silan (date syrup) to customers throughout the United States and Canada.

As the Soom Foods Director of Logistics, you will be responsible for our most prized possession, our products!  You will make sure products are warehoused properly, in stock, and delivered safely and on-time to our customers. This is a very hands-on role, and you will be working closely with all members of the small but mighty Soom Crew. 

Director of Logistics Responsibilities

Inventory Management

  • Manage item listings in inventory software
  • Analyze on-hand and inbound inventory for two warehouse locations
  • Submit purchase orders to manufacturers
  • Manage movement of inventory between warehouses and producers
  • Complete received product tracking, including product counts by lot number, receiving in inventory software, COA, COGS, product retention, coordination of lab testing
  • Document weekly samples, product replacements and damaged products
  • Convert full cases into necessary bundles for direct to consumer sales
  • Communicate with Amazon consultant to ensure proper inventory levels are met
  • Complete end of month inventory process including physical counts, adjustments, valuations and reconciliations
  • Communicate with CPO, Jackie, to maintain proper manufacturer relationships

Warehouse Supervision

  • Delegate daily tasks to Warehouse Coordinator
  • Support and check in with Warehouse Coordinator
  • Monitor accuracy of shipping labels, customer orders, and samples
  • Track warehouse productivity
  • Track warehouse errors
  • Update warehouse storage systems as needed
  • Work hands-on in warehouse as needed 
  • Schedule temp workers as needed

Customer Fulfillment

  • Manage customer accounts and pricing in invoicing software
  • Receive direct and distributor customer orders
  • Generate invoices for direct and distributor orders
  • Coordinate order fulfillment with remote third party warehouse
  • Schedule freight, local deliveries and generate shipping labels for direct and distributor orders
  • Coordinate FBA shipments to Amazon distribution center 
  • Analyze shipping costs
  • Consider new carriers and shipping providers for competitive rates


  • Analyze and update Department KPI’s and metrics
  • Edit and update Foreign Supplier Verification Program documents required by the FDA

  • Must live in the Greater Philadelphia region and be willing to commute to our office in North Philadelphia
  • A minimum of 3 years work and/or a college degree in supply chain management or logistics preferred



You will work closely with all members of the Soom crew and will ultimately report to our CEO.  This is a full-time position, based in Philadelphia, PA with an attractive salary.  Benefits include medical coverage, vacation and sick days, and a positive company culture.
