Why You Should Kick off the New Year with Soom

It’s that time of year where many repent for the number of baked goods and savory (indulgent) food they scarfed down during the holiday season. But, we’re not focusing on that. We’re here to inspire your health goals this new year. We hope this blog sheds light on why Soom products should be pantry staples in your home, restaurant, or business.

Reason 1: Chocolate Soom is the hot new pantry item.

Over the past few months, Nutella has been getting knocked for its “increase in skimmed milk powder from 7.5% to 8.7% and an increase in sugar from 55.9% to 56.3% (source: Shape Magazine, November 2017) making the chocolate hazelnut spread have even less chocolate and hazelnuts. If you aren’t aware, Chocolate Soom has less than over half the amount of sugar as Nutella, making it the preferred chocolate spread for mothers and health-conscious individuals. With only three ingredients, Soom Tahini, powdered pure cane sugar, and cocoa powder, it’s a go-to spread for those allergic to nuts or adverse to dairy. Because of tahini’s nutrition, Chocolate Soom is jam-packed with nutrients ranging from iron and calcium to omega 6 fatty acids. Talk about a sweet, delicious, and nutritious treat!

Reason 2: Sesame is a superfood.

Briefly noted earlier, our tahini products possess various essential nutrients. Adina Fradkin, Nutritionist/Dietitian, MS, RD, LDN, shared why tahini should be incorporated into your everyday lifestyle. “Tahini is absolutely one of the most nutrient-packed foods out there. It boasts a more impressive nutrient profile than many other foods that we regard as being know for specific vitamin and mineral content. Ounce for ounce, it contains nearly 3x more iron than is found in lentils, almost double the phosphorus and 6x more calcium than is found in peanut butter, more zinc and copper than is found in both peanut or almond butter, and over 3x the omega-3 fatty acid and magnesium content of avocados. Tahini has a nutrient profile that truly speaks for itself compared to so many foods you are probably eating, making tahini a simple and smart switch to make for nutrition and flavor.”

Reason 3: It’s super easy to add a “soomful” (spoonful) to any dish.

Soom tahini and chocolate Soom are incredibly versatile and can be incorporated into everyday breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and desserts! Soom tahini is the perfect ingredient for almost everything including salad dressings, smoothies, sauces, dips, or an alternative to mayo or nut butters. Top off your buddha bowl, salads, oatmeal, or yogurt with a soomful of tahini. Chocolate Soom is fantastic straight from the jar or as a topper for breakfast items like oatmeal, pancakes, yogurts, and waffles. It’s incredibly delicious in protein shakes, smoothies, and in desserts, too.

Reason 4: Mom-friendly and kid-friendly

Soom products can be enjoyed by all – whether you are a health-conscious individual, adverse to dairy, allergic to nuts, or practice a vegan, kosher, paleo or whole30 lifestyle (standard tahini only for the latter two). Moreover, our products can especially be enjoyed by kids and mothers alike! Our products can support a healthy pregnancy and teeny tahinis (as we like to call children) because of the essential nutrients that tahini boasts, providing nutrients that are vital for overall health and growth and development. It is also a fantastic alternative to nut butters, making it the preferable nut-free spread for school lunches. You can also switch out any of the leading chocolate spreads for a more nutritious, bittersweet one, like chocolate Soom, which children and moms can enjoy on the go, in a smoothie, or as a dip for fruits and other snacks.

Wishing you all a healthy, happy, and delicious 2018!
